Potentiometer Accessories

These tinned brackets are suitable for use with our commercial grade PCB mounting 16mm pots. The brackets provide the necessary mechanical strength to ensure the pot pins are not taking the stress when panel mounting the PCB. These are especially suitable for modular synth builders who use a daughterboard behind the panel for pots to save on masses of panel wiring. The bracket has 4 tinned connections on a 0.7" x 0.3" grid where the front two pins are in-line with the pot pins. The pots pins are on a 0.2" pitch with the centre pin 0.35" from each bracket pin. We suggest a 1.2mm pad hole for the bracket pins. Note, the pin spacing means that the use of these brackets on stripboard is not so tidy but is possible. Bend the bracket pins inwards by 0.05" carefully insert into the stripboard, it's a snug fit but it will go! Quite a hard to find nut but it was well worth the effort as it provides such a nicer finish for your Eurorack modules than hex nuts when it is not covered by the knob. Thread size: M7 x 0.75 Overall diameter: 9.5mm

At Sonic Synths, we have standardised on T18 splined shafts for our potentiometers but sometimes the know you want is only available for 1/4" shafts with grub screw fixing. This sleeve slides over the 6mm solid or splined shaft and makes it the perfect fit for 1/4" knobs.

When we breadboard new designs, incorporating pots can be difficult especially when the design has lots of pots. Our breakout PCBs allow standard 9mm pots to be directly inserted into the breadboard. Two versions are available, the single pot type plus this quad pot board that has space for four pots. The single pot version has space for four rows of headers for extra stability on the breadboard but you can get away with only soldering in just two rows. The fours rows are electrically connected together so you can pick up the pot connections either side of the PCB. The quad version differs in that the CW and CCW pots connections are all commoned up. This allows for a single power supply connection with each of the wipers having their own pins on the PCB. Once again, all connections are available on both sides to simplify breadboard layouts. The single pot version is supplied in packs of three, you will need to solder in the headers (supplied) along with the pot (not supplied, see here).  The quad version is supplied individually.
