M²Synth Mu / MOTM Voltage Regulator / Interface

    Description

For many good reasons, the M²Synth has adopted the +/-12V standard for its power supply requirements. To use M² modules on +/-15V systems, most modules require an in-line voltage regulator to regulate the higher voltage down to +/-12V. Certain modules are provided with dual headers for use with both +/-12V and +/-15V systems which means this interface is not required.

This Mu / MOTM interface not only regulates the voltage to +/-12V but also provides the power supply headers commonly used with +/-15V systems (Dotcom and MOTM).

The M² power distribution system includes individual regulators for every module which is rarely found on +/-15V systems. Adding one of our Mu / MOTM interfaces replicates this which in turn offers a higher level of immunity to power supply fluctuations which can be caused by other modules in the rack.

This interface comes complete with a ribbon cable and 10-way IDC connector for direct connection to the M² module. If you are using this adapter for non-M² applications, then you can always cut off the IDC connector off and directly solder the wires to the module PCB or solder on your own specific connector.

    Specification:

    • Input voltage: +/- 15V
    • Output voltage: +/-12V
    • Voltage tolerance +/-0.5V worst case, typically +/- 0.2V based on our test samples.
    • Uses 78L/79L regulators type AC which have a tighter voltage tolerance compared to the more common C type
    • Maximum load current: +/-90mA
    • Input connectors: MOTM and Mu
    • Output connector: Ribbon cable with 10-way IDC connector for direct connection to a M² module
    • Housed in a custom 3D printed enclosure
    • Supplied fully assembled, ready for use
